Zeals’ vision looks toward the “Omotenashi” Revolution. Omotenashi is the Japanese word for hospitality - a unique part of Japanese culture that Zeals, as a Japanese startup, wants to leverage to revolutionize the modern era across the world. The motivation for this revolution stems from the future society that the company is working toward - a “Will” society where communication tech is going to empower people to achieve their dreams and ambitions, and where technology is not just a tool that people will utilize, but a partner in their growth. “We aim to make this future a reality by building products, tools, and services that break down barriers in communication,” says Keito Sato, CTO, Zeals.

Currently, Zeals is focusing on two services.

The first, Chatbot Commerce, connects companies and brands to end-users through chatbots that run on messaging platforms such as LINE and Facebook messenger, helping them provide users with a much more personalized, familiar, and convenient commerce experience.

The second, Chatbot DX, widens the scope of services to serve companies across industries that don’t yet have appropriate access to the online space that Chatbots cater to. Through DX, which stands for Digital Transformation, Zeals is looking to take the existing offline sales experience of these companies and transform it into an online experience that gives them new ways to connect with their customers.

To build these products to the highest possible standards, the Zeals team has grown into a global organization over the past year. The technology department has shifted to being an English-based team to accommodate international members who hail from 19 different countries, including Brazil, Canada, the U.S., UK, France, Germany, Russia, Israel, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Korea, and Japan.

Not only is the group extremely diverse, but its members are also highly skilled and experienced engineers who are looking to work in cutting-edge technology and invest themselves in a product, business, and organization that they believe in. This drive helps members grow both as individuals and as a team, which is fostered by the company’s open culture. Members are encouraged to expand their skillsets and get involved with the team to create a truly integrated global team.

Having gone from 40 to 100 members in 2020 (and looking to double that in 2021), and with the annual gross profit growth rate exceeding 200 percent, the speed at which Zeals is growing is both a sign of its ambition and a result of its hard work. “Zeals’ focus on Omotenashi begins within the team itself, where it seeks to create an environment in which its members can thrive, and where they, in turn, can invest themselves in the company’s vision of leading the global ‘Omotenashi’ revolution from Japan,” concludes Keito Sato.
